Hintonburg is a neighbourhood in Kitchissippi Ward, west of Ottawa's downtown core, with Wellington Street West as its commercial strip. The area was first settled in 1826, was incorporated as a village in 1893 and was annexed to Ottawa in 1907. It was named after Joseph Hinton, a community leader who died in 1884.
